• The White House shared a photo of Donald Trump as James Bond on X on Sunday.
• The post came following news of the 007 franchise officially kicking off auditions for the next international man of mystery.
• The post is the latest in a string of controversial posts from official White House accounts associating Trump with popular IPs that often prompt backlash from those behind the IP.

The White House has selected a new target in its ongoing campaign of IP infiltration: James Bond.

On Saturday, in response to a post announcing that auditions have officially kicked off to find the next James Bond, the official White House X account shared an image featuring Donald Trump in the style of 007.

Accompanied by a simple caption of “👀,” the image depicted Trump in a tuxedo, his left hand tucked under his right arm, which held up a pistol fitted with a silencer. A black-and-white editing effect made his facial features indistinct, but clearly readable down the side of the photo were the words “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” — Trump’s slogan since his first run for president in 2015.

Also visible at the bottom right corner the image was the official 007 logo, complete with Bond’s pistol jutting off the edge of the 7 like a wing.

The post represents the latest in a long-standing, widely criticized tradition of the Trump second-term communications team of editing the president into films, TV series, and other projects in which he did not originally star. Earlier this month, the White House shared an image of Trump dressed as as the Mandalorian with Grogu by his side.

This was (at least) the second time the Trump team had edited Trump into the Star Wars universe. The first time, when the White House shared an image of the president holding a red lightsaber, Star Wars alum Mark Hamill joked, “My comment was: ‘Proof positive he’s full of Sith.'”

“The search for the next James Bond is underway,” Amazon MGM Studios announced in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly on Thursday. “While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

There is no indication at present that Trump has any affiliation with the next installment in the James Bond franchise. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Amazon MGM Studios and Eon Productions Ltd., the long-standing producer of James Bond films, for comment.

Fans have been speculating who will fill in as the international man of mystery after Daniel Craig announced he was leaving the franchise in 2019. When Amazon gained control of the series in 2025, the rumor mill began to turn even faster, as it seemed the next chapter in the franchise was soon on its way.

Tons of names have been thrown out as candidates for the next super spy, including Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi, Fantastic Beasts franchise actor Callum Turner, and Bridgerton heartthrob Regé-Jean Page, who recently called the “very intense” degree of speculation that he may become Bond “strange” and “not normal.”
