Not slightly off. Not \u201cI misunderstood a detail.\u201d I mean utterly, profoundly clueless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The worst part? Everyone else seems to have known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That moment when someone explains the thing \u2014 casually, effortlessly \u2014 and your brain freezes. You laugh. You nod. You say, \u201cOhhh, right!\u201d as if you totally knew that. But inside, your entire worldview is rearranging furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a story about that feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Actually, it\u2019s about many of those feelings \u2014 because if we\u2019re honest, life is basically one long series of realizing we were clueless about something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Illusion of Knowing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we\u2019re younger, we think adults know everything. Then we grow up and realize adults are mostly improvising. Then we become adults and discover we are, in fact, improvising too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cluelessness doesn\u2019t disappear with age. It just gets better dressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We walk around with invisible assumptions about how the world works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How careers are built<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How relationships function<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How money grows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How confidence works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How success happens<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And we rarely question these assumptions because they feel obvious. Familiar. True.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until they aren\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funny thing about being clueless is that you don\u2019t feel clueless. You feel informed. Logical. Certain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s what makes the reveal so powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Day I Realized I Was Wrong<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wasn\u2019t a dramatic moment. There was no lightning bolt. Just a casual conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone explained something that, in hindsight, was simple. Obvious, even. And as they talked, I felt that slow, creeping realization:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have been thinking about this completely wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I didn\u2019t misunderstand a detail. I misunderstood the entire framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here\u2019s the humbling part \u2014 I had opinions about it. Strong ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s one thing to not know. It\u2019s another thing to confidently not know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that moment changed something important: it made me curious instead of defensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because defensiveness is the natural reaction when we discover we\u2019ve been clueless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curiosity is the better one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work hard. Stay loyal. Be patient. Success will find you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It sounds noble. It\u2019s also incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I didn\u2019t understand was leverage. Visibility. Negotiation. Strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought promotions were rewards for effort. I didn\u2019t realize they were often the result of positioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought being \u201cgood at my job\u201d was enough. I didn\u2019t understand that being good isn\u2019t the same as being seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When someone explained that career growth is partly about perception, communication, and advocating for yourself, I felt that familiar jolt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was clueless about this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because I wasn\u2019t smart.
